Clinic CRYOABLATION OF PROSTATE TUMOR

Prostate and prostate cancer

The prostate gland is a gland found only in men and it is located below the bladder.
Prostate cancer is a disease in which malignant cells are originated from the prostate tissue and and reproduced irregularly and increasingly, leading to increased volume of each of the cellular components of the prostate gland.
Prostate cancer is the second most prevalent cancer in men after lung cancer. Prostate cancer can be show-growing and take long to develop symptoms. In other cases, the tumor is rapidly growing and tumor invasion into other tissues becomes possible. In such cases, the interval between the onset and expansion is very short.

Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer

Prostate cancer appears with symptoms associated with urination or abdominal pain. These symptoms are in common with diseases such as joint infection and benign prostatic hypertrophy.

Warning symptoms

– Frequent urination
– Weak flow of urine
– Inability to urinate
– Urinary incontinence
– Weak or interrupted flow of urine
– Blood in the urine

Treatment for prostate cancer

There are different treatment methods for prostate cancer. The best treatment option is selected according to cancer condition and progression in the patient.

 Surgery –
Hormone therapy –
Radiotherapy –
Chemotherapy –
Cryotehrapy –
Biological therapy –

Prostate cancer recurrence

In cases where cancer cells are not completely destroyed and removed in the initial treatment, the conditions for growth and proliferation of the malignant cells be provided. It does not mean that treatment is performed incompletely or incorrectly, but it is common mostly in the treatment of cancer malignancy recurrence. Cancer recurrence may appear as secondary cancer (metastasis). That is, cancer cells will start growing and multiplying in another body organ.

Treatment of cancer recurrence

The same previous methods will be used in the treatment of cancer recurrence. However, a new treatment is also recently introduced for patients with prostate cancer recurrence.

Cryotherapy ablation is this technique of destroying cells by cooling or freezing system. With this technique, the cancer cell will be cooled to the temperature of (-90ºC to -140ºC) and they will be destroyed. This technique has many advantages in the treatment of cancer recurrence.

How is the surgery performed?

Cryo-needle will be inserted into the tissue of tumor recurrence site under the guidance of imaging devices. After connecting the needle to freezer, tumor tissue will reach the temperature (-90ºC to -140ºC) and this low temperature cause the death of cancer cells.
Is should be noted that this surgery does not require hospitalization or anesthesia and is performed as an outpatient procedure. This surgery is mostly painless, but it is sometimes associated with very little pain.

Surgery results

This surgery can achieve very effective results in controlling and treating cancer both in the early treatment of cancer and cancer tissue recurrence. This surgery is recommended especially in cases where the patient does not meet the conditions for anesthesia or surgery.
