RF.A Thyroid nodules in Pardise Noor Medical Imaging Center

Radio-frequency ablation of thyroid nodules

Thyroid nodules are a common phenomenon in the Iranian population. Usually, the diagnosis rate considerably increases by ultrasound.
Most thyroid nodules are benign, but some of these nodules should be treated for aesthetic reasons, and clinical symptoms such as pain or the fear of becoming malignant.
The main treatment of benign thyroid nodules is surgery or medical treatments. But surgery has its own side effects and the use of steroids as inhibitors of thyroid nodules is still controversial.

It is a new minimally invasive technique used for the treatment of benign and malignant lesions in many diseases. Thus, minimally invasive non-surgical procedures such as alcohol injection, ethanol ablation, and tissue laser ablation have shown good results. Radio-frequency ablation is a new minimally invasive technique used for treating benign and malignant lesions in many diseases. Due to its ease of use and limited control of the intended area, this technique is of great interest today. Radio-frequency technique has been recently used for treating thyroid cancer recurrence and benign thyroid nodules. Several published studies have reported that radio-frequency ablation reduced nodule size by 46.6% to 79.7% by 6 months after radio-frequency ablation. The important advantages of this method include no change in the voice, skin burns, hematoma formation, damage to vital organs of neck and infection in the patient.
